Baarrooka has a growing stable of high quality stud males in a range of colours. These are available for outside matings, including for Embryo Transfer*. Drive-by, mobile (within 250 km) and on-farm matings are available.
The on-farm fee includes free agistment for up to 60 days, regular spit testing and an ultrasound pregnancy confirmation. Mobile matings incur a travel fee for each mating. The stud fee listed is the on-farm fee and includes GST. Discounts for drive-by and multiple matings packages are available.
Baarrooka is happy to offer assistance in developing a breeding plan for your herd, including advice on males both within and outside our herd. We pride ourselves on our honest and unbiased appraisals of animals and will recommend the male best suited to acheiving your breeding goals. Full Embryo Transfer services are also offered.
Please contact us if you are interested in a full or part share of any of these top quality stud males.
*a separate cost structure applies, please contact us for details
Comprehensive scientific measurement is undertaken regularly on our males and is available for review at any time. The fleece statistics listed below are (where available) from the first shear after each animal's 2nd birthday to provide comparative data. Later fleece results can be obtained, as well as those from parents, siblings and progeny, where available, by contacting us.
We believe that to continually improve the quality of the Australian Suri it is vital that homozygous males are used. We believe all the Stud Males offered at Baarrooka are homozygous and back this up with a solid suri guarantee.
Guarantees
All matings include a live cria guarantee whereby if a cria dies within a period of 14 days from the date of birth, a free remating will be offered.
All matings include a suri guarantee whereby if a huacaya cria is produced, a full refund of the mating fee AND a free mating will be offered to another male.*
* For co-owned males free remating only offered

Fleece Analysis Legend
All fleece statistics are annualised, so they can be compared easily.
Date = Date sample taken
Micron = mean fibre diameter
SD = standard deviation
CF = comfort factor (% fibres < 30 micron)
TGFW = Total Greasy Fleece Weight (weight of fleece without bellies, brisket, lower legs, etc)
SL = staple length (at midside) fibre growth in mm/day
Lustre = lustre score (washed fleece) 1 (extreme); 3 (good); 5 (poor/none). Calibrated to Mulberry silk (score 3) and Tussah Silk (score 1)
W/D3 = ratio of clean fleece weight to the cube of the fibre diameter. Determines the value of the fleece produced by each animal and is comparable from one year to the next. A higher number indicates a finer, more dense animal with a higher value fleece.
$$$$$ >0.50; $$$$= 0.40-0.49; $$$= 0.30 - 0.39; $$= 0.20 - 0.29; $< 0.20.
Density = we use a fleece density index (FDI) which 'calculates' the density of an animal taking into consideration the weight, micron, sd and length of the fleece. As we are still trialling the index and comparing the results to actual skin biopsies, we have not provided the numerical results, but have illustrated these results in the density indicator graph for each animal. Once we have confirmed the acuracy of the FDI, we will provide the actual calculated score, which should correspond to the follicle density in a skin biopsy.
FN = Follicle density in number per mm2 from skin biopsy
S:P = Ratio of Secondary to Primary fibres from skin biopsy
Estimated Breeding Values
Baarrooka has just joined the AGE (despite intending to for a very long time) and will report these data when available.
